Introduction:-
Society often perceives selfishness as a negative trait, associated with greed, disregard for others, and a lack of empathy. However, there is a side to selfishness that deserves a fresh perspective. While selflessness and altruism have their place, it is equally important to recognize the value of being selfish—especially when it comes to self-care, setting boundaries, and maintaining overall well-being. In this article, we will explore the concept of being selfish and shed light on its significance in leading a balanced and fulfilling life.
It's my sole opinion, I never indent to hurt anyone. It may vary person to person's personalities because how they think and respond to this, is totally depends on their mental state and time of being in their presence at that moment. So, in my point of view BEING SELFISH is the right one and also a tough one to do, but it helps a lot to improve one's self day by day and getting stronger in both mentally and physically.
Selfishness is also referred to as egoistic, self-centered, narcissistic etc. but as per me, it's self-loving. I want to say that, if a person can't be loving his/her own body/life/way of thinking/way of living, then how he/she could love others. He/she will never understand others and arguing with them with baseless arguments without any logical and practical thinking. Don't be idiots, think before you say. First think about ME (that's you) and then think about WE ( for others). Okay, if you really want to help others then you have to be in a better position to hold others' back .
Generally we think that being selfish is a bad thing, but I want to remember you that each and every action/ habits has its limit, if we cross the limit we will suffer a lot either it is a bad or good one. So, I want to share that, how being selfish is positively impacts in our lives.
First of all, being selfish will force us to think deep inside and find solutions to develop our overall abilities to sustain and compete with others for our better survival. It gives a clear picture of us and confidence to be independent, self-sufficient and keep pushing towards our goals. It always reminds that you are the best and be the best whatever the situation is. So, it gives us a clear path that what we have to do and how to do.
The Power of Self-Care:-
Self-care is a fundamental aspect of leading a healthy and fulfilling life. By prioritizing self-care, we acknowledge our physical, emotional, and mental needs. This act of being selfish ensures that we have the necessary energy and resources to support ourselves and, consequently, others around us. Just as they say on airplanes, "Put your oxygen mask on first before assisting others." By taking care of our own needs, we enhance our ability to care for others effectively.
When we neglect self-care in the pursuit of constantly pleasing others, we risk burnout and depletion. Whether it's carving out time for rest, engaging in hobbies, practicing mindfulness, or seeking therapy, being selfish in self-care allows us to recharge and rejuvenate. It empowers us to be more present, compassionate, and resilient, ultimately benefiting both ourselves and those we care for.
Setting Healthy Boundaries:-
Another aspect of being selfish is setting healthy boundaries. Boundaries define our limits and help us establish a sense of autonomy and self-respect. Without clear boundaries, we may find ourselves overwhelmed, taken advantage of, or constantly sacrificing our own well-being for the sake of others. By being selfish and setting boundaries, we communicate our needs and expectations, fostering healthier relationships and reducing the likelihood of resentment or burnout.
Setting boundaries involves learning to say "no" when necessary and asserting our personal values and priorities. It does not mean being unkind or disregarding the needs of others but rather finding a balance between our own needs and the needs of those around us. By being selfish in this way, we create healthier dynamics, enabling everyone involved to grow, respect one another's boundaries, and achieve personal fulfillment.
The Path to Personal Growth:-
Embracing selfishness in certain aspects of life is not about being self-centred or neglecting the needs of others altogether. Rather, it is a mindset shift that encourages personal growth and emotional well-being. By taking time to invest in ourselves, we can become more self-aware, develop a stronger sense of identity, and gain clarity about our goals and aspirations.
When we prioritize our own growth and pursue our passions, we set an example for others to do the same. By being selfish in this regard, we inspire and uplift those around us, fostering an environment where everyone can thrive individually and collectively.
Conclusion:-
While the negative connotations associated with selfishness are not entirely unfounded, it is crucial to recognize the importance of being selfish in certain contexts. By embracing self-care, setting healthy boundaries, and prioritizing personal growth, we empower ourselves to lead balanced, fulfilling lives. Being selfish in these aspects allows us to recharge, preserve our well-being, and ultimately be more present and available for others.
Remember, being selfish does not equate to being self-absorbed or lacking empathy. It is about finding a harmonious balance between self-care and the needs of those around us. By nurturing our own well-being, we become better equipped to positively impact the world and create meaningful connections with others. So, embrace the art of being selfish.
Being selfish is good, but it has also limitations that our selfishness should never be a troubleshooter for others. If we trouble someone or something which will be impact in future negatively, then we are in the wrong path. So, we should always beware of our selfishness, and let it guide you towards a more fulfilling and authentic life.
