Rabindra Jayanti: Celebrating the Life and Works of Rabindranath Tagore.


Rabindra Nath Tagore was a renowned poet, writer, philosopher, and artist who was  born on May 7, 1861, in Calcutta, India. His contributions to Indian literature and music were immense, and his influence can be felt to this day. Every year, on May 7, his birthday is celebrated as Rabindra Jayanti across India, where people pay homage to the great poet and celebrate his life and works.


A complex individual, Rabindranath Tagore made contributions to the arts, music, education, and politics. Gitanjali, his collection of poems, earned him the Nobel Prize in Literature, making him the first non-European to do so.
