OLYMPICS 2024

History of the Olympics:

The Olympic Games have a long history that began in ancient Greece. From 776 BC to 393 AD, Olympia hosted the games. Zeus, the king of the Greek gods, was the subject of a religious celebration that included these antiquated sports. Among the competitions were foot races, discus throw, wrestling, long jump, javelin, and chariot racing. The ancient Olympics served as a catalyst for cultural cohesion and competitive spirit among the Greek city-states. The modern Olympic Games were resurrected in 1896 after a protracted break by French educator and historian Pierre de Coubertin, who was motivated by the ancient games and desired to use sports to advance world peace and cooperation. Greece's Athens hosted the inaugural modern Olympics, which included 14 nations and 241 athletes competing in 43 events.
